Option Review:30ml Spray Extract I had the original years ago and following its discontinuation I settled on Colonia Intensa Oud that was the closest original fragrance I could find in terms of warmth. That was then also discontinued.
This PP creation is a masterpiece. I don't have the original to compare it with but according to my memory it is 99% close and certainly feels 99% the same.
First day wearing it and I gathered two compliments.
The longevity is impressive: sprays on arms and neck at 8am and I can still smell the fragrance as more than a skin scent at 9pm. I would actually say that this PP fragrance gets better as the day goes on - it becomes a much warmer fragrance with more subtle spicing that compliments the complexity of the fragrance after four or five hours.
I bought a 30ml bottle and assuming PP has it in stock I will be buying more. In my top five PP fragrances and in my top ten all time favourite fragrances.

Option Review:15ml Spray Extract I have the original sprayed on my left arm and the PP extract spray on my right arm. I can't tell the difference without pretending that I have an expert nose when I don't have one. The two fragrances are so similar that they could be the same fragrance maybe from the same batch or from two very slightly and minimally different batches. The small difference between the fragrances in the immediate opening - lasting for about ninety seconds - is nowhere to be found two minutes later.
Five minutes into spraying and I now can't pick up a difference. The PP fragrance is possibly slightly stronger in sillage of top notes.
The original fragrance doesn't have great longevity on me - I'm lucky to get four hours if that before it becomes a soapy skin scent. The PP fragrance is very slightly better on my skin but not by much and I suppose that's just the nature of these aroma chemicals on my skin.
Option Review:30ml Spray Very close to perfection and most impressively of all it does capture 100% the warm and complex, deep citrus.
There is a spice note here that is more apparent than in the original. It's a very slight peppery or possibly cardamom spice note that is more apparent than in the original but mostly when smelling close to the skin.
Anyway, this is a very good fragrance that is remarkably close to the original and really does capture the lemon complexity beautifully.
The original doesn't have great longevity or projection and isn't intended to. This doesn't break the aim of the original.
It's a gentleman's fragrance and probably the best citrus based fragrance ever created.

Option Review:30ml Spray Extract One of the nicest fragrances I've tried - excellent in its own right - and given that the original isn't available anymore the fact that it's 90% - 95% similar to the original is a bonus.
Mexican Wood is very long lasting - 10 hours in and it's much more than a skin scent and with very passable projection.
Citrus, incense, woody, toffee. Beautiful. And it improves in the dry down and is at its best a few hours after spraying. It improves with age.
It gets more compliments from men than women. Male friends ask me what it is and want to buy it.
I wear it for myself because it's so nice. Mellow. Beautiful. One of the best from PP.

Option Review:30ml Spray Probably the best clone I've tried: far superior to CDNMI.
Given the original's notorious batch variation this has easily passed as the original with a number of people (all male interestingly) asking me if I'm wearing you know what.
This is definitely on the very high woody side of the original batch variation and possibly a bit too woody with not enough pineapple but nobody other than the wearer is going to notice. One of the people who asked me if I'm wearing the original buys the original himself and so is very used to the real thing. A tiny bit more pineapple would be nice though although it tends not to last much past the opening and dry down even with the original.
I think the spray extract is the one to go for. The longevity isn't great - a few hours maybe - but then again it's not great with the original either.
It's a good compliment getter but oddly not from women. All of the compliments I've got with 1848 and when using the original have been from men. The sweeter PP fragrances get compliments from men but the woody and spicy fragrances don't seem to. My aim isn't to get compliments - too old and too uninterested in impressing - but for younger guys who want to make an impact the DNA may be disappointing.
Anyway I've tried lots of clones and this is by far the best even compared to other PP batch or fruitier clones.
I've run out of my 30ml spray extract and will buy another bigger bottle.
